Mouse Problem Solution

Standard mice removal treatment

Unless they had already come out of control a long time ago, with literarily hundreds of mice now scurrying about, most mouse infestations can be controlled in just 2 visits by an experienced pest controller. Some important factors are: enough baiting points to cover all the areas where mice or their signs have been seen as well as where else mice could possibly go within the treated premises, enough of palatable bait while alternative food sources are denied to mice, proofing is carried out on completion of treatment (not before), sufficient time between visits.

Beware of this treatment might fail to control where mice have had alternative sources of palatable foods available

If other foodstuffs were left available and accessible to mice within the treated premises or close to, mice could prefer feeding on those instead of readily taking rodenticidal edible baits. An example may be seen in a block of flats (tenement houses in Glasgow or in other parts of urban Scotland) where one tenant is trying hard to eradicate mice from his/her apartment while infestations thrive in other flats and/or in adjoining communal areas.

Mice reluctant to feed on a well presented rodenticide of good selection would likely ignore any baits placed into spring traps too. In case of rats, reluctance in taking edible baits or avoiding bait stations altogether may also be attributed to neophobia rather than being caused by alternative food sources.

What else can be done?

Where conventional mice removal treatments using rodenticidal baiting have failed, contact rodenticides could be considered to be deployed. To protect the safety of non-target animal species, the residents, their children and pets contact baits should be placed within protective rodent tunnels. Similar or same technologies may be used for rats.
