Wasps Removal in the Autumn

Many thanks to all of my customers for keeping me busy with wasp control throughout the spring and summer 2014!

Wasp season has not ended yet

Although wasps in autumn may appear to be slower than and not as active as they were earlier during summer months, they are still well capable of stinging. In addition, an active wasp nest located in a wall or roof cavity, or inside the loft space of your house is likely to be ‘pesting’ you now more than ever before. When outside temperatures cool down, the majority of your wasps (workers - infertile wasp females and drones - wasp males) start dying off for the winter. Meanwhile, wasp queens start leaving the nest and are looking for hibernation sites. This regularly results in large numbers of wasps appearing everyday within your home, with upper floors being affected the most. Wasp queens cannot hibernate inside your heated home and are flying about the windows to eventually end up dead on the window sills and on nearby floor after a couple of days due starvation and dehydration. During all the time these doomed wasps are likely to inflict painful stings on you.

The most effective way to stop the ingress of wasps into your living space is to treat the wasp nest. If all of the aspiring wasp queens have already left the nest and dispersed for hibernation, the loft space and some cavity walls can be treated with insecticidal smoke generators (insect smoke bombs).
